The 14th Sino-Germany Symposium of Applied Higher Education kicks off at Hefei University on October 28. Over 200 scholars from 69 universities take part in the symposium over the topic of “Future-oriented Sino-Germany Cooperation: Dual System Higher Education” on site or online.

Christian Wulff, former President of Germany, presides over the symposium. He points out that as world major economies and centers of innovation and development, China and Germany are linked by their long-term strategic partnership while the Symposium has developed into a core platform for exchanges and dialogue between the two in the field of applied higher education over the years.

Wang Qingxian, Governor of Anhui Province, remarks in his speech that the dual-system higher education model with the participation of both universities and enterprises is the key for Germany to a great manufacturing power. He hopes to strengthen the cooperation with Lower Saxony to promote the development of HFU and other applied universities.

Stefan Weier, Governor of Lower Saxony, says in his speech that over the past 37 years, Anhui Province and Lower Saxony have been cooperating closely to have forged a profound friendship with the Symposium as its cornerstone; HFU’s cooperation with Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences makes student exchanges possible, which have brought benefits for both parties; he looks forward to further student exchanges after the epidemic.

As a brand for the Sino-Germany higher education cooperation and China's applied higher education development, the Sino-Germany Symposium of Applied Higher Education is hosted alternately by HFU and Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences since 2008 with attendees from China, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Switzerland and the like. They carry out such in-depth exchanges as the talent training concept and mode, curriculum system, social support system, teaching methods and successful cases.
