In January, 2021, the 2020 Manufacturing-Internet Integrating Development Pilot Programs to further the innovation of the technology, mode and format of the manufacturing industry and its application, were issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The program Sino-German Dual-System Applied Talent Cultivation Base, directed by HFUs President Wu Chunmei, is approved.

In the light of the cooperation with Germany, HFU jointly set a “Continental Class” with Continental AG and Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences in 2016, which was the first higher education dual-system program in China with Chinese characteristics. Among the 118 undergraduates enrolled in this Class in the past five years, 15 were sent to the Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences or the headquarter of the Continental AG in Germany for exchange study, and 57 of them had their internships at the Continental AG in Hefei. In July 2020, all the first 21 students enrolled in the first “Continental Class” graduated, 4 of them pursing their further study and the other 17 employed.

Based on the previous experience and achievement, HFU will continuously deepen the exploration and practice of the dual-system talent cultivation. With the needs of industrial development in Hefei, HFU will join hands with those well-known enterprises at home and abroad, including Hefei Metro, LCFC (Hefei) Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., and Volkswagen AG in developing the base for cultivating high-quality applied engineering talents with international competitiveness.
